Here at Fashion Snoops we’re in the business of trends, not celebrity bashing or worst dressed lists. Therefore red carpet season is always a great time to talk trends because undoubtedly what you see here is going to impact a dress department near you and even make it to senior prom. And what better way to kick off the last round of runway shows in Paris this week.
WHITE OUT! How refreshing to see white on the red carpet. This trend has been building since last month at the Golden Globes when white and nude were introduced. Battling for best-in-show here are Rooney Mara in Givenchy and Gwyneth Paltrow in a Tom Ford column dress with a long detachable cape. See I told you capes would be big.. more on that later this week.
And then there’s RED. This fashion color has been having a moment for the past few seasons – in fact it was major last year at the Oscars as well.
Embellishment, embellishment, embellishment. SEQUINS & BEADING are winners both on the red carpet and at after parties.
A close runner-up to the embellished trend comes in the form of METALLICS. Meryl Streep in a wrapped Lanvin number and Jessica Chastain in gold embroidered Alexander McQueen, nuff said.
These leading ladies take the PLUNGE literally, with deep V necklines, a recurring runway trend.
Here’s more of a novelty statement that showed up extensively at the Vanity Fair after-party. BLACK TEXTURE makes a statement combining contrast fabrics like sheer and leather. Special shout-out to the sheer maxis.
Also popular in the after-party circuit was the COLUMN DRESS.
Ok this one is not major by any means, but you’ve got to hand it to these ladies for sporting JUMPSUITS after hours.
