Rodarte just got ever so slightly more accessible with their collaboration with cooler-than-thou retailer Opening Ceremony. The collection launched yesterday in OC stores in NY, LA and Tokyo as well as Barney’s in NY, Holt Renfew and a few others retailers in Moscow and Saudi Arabia which makes me wonder WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG for OC to open up shop in Paris (or at least sell this fab collab in Colette?). Anyway, without further ado.. Rodarte for Opening Ceremony.
The photos above are my personal favorites – yes there are 20 of them – and there’s also more on the OC site. I found the collection to be quite extensive and anticipate that it will prove Rodarte’s commercial viability for potential investors that may be on the look out. Back to that accessibility mark – price points range for $250 to over $2000, which pretty much means that neither the tapestry dress or pleated croc skirt will be mine anytime soon but just maybe I’ll go for the button-off leggings. What makes this collection work is that every piece is undeniably Rodarte, and there are just so many hits, let’s see.. stained prints, lace up shorts, openwork fringe cardigan, PJ prints, draped skirt, cropped yoke top, Aztec intarsia sweater, even hook and eye floral printed swimwear and tattoo tights for good measure. While an H&M collab is likely far off, I would love to see Rodarte develop further commercially, and I’m pretty sure this collection marks a starting point in that direction.
